Biography

Radim Dobias is a clinical mycologist with special interest in medical mycology diagnostic methods of medically important fungi and in the field of innovative treatment procedures.
Currently, Dr. Dobias is the Head of the Laboratory of Clinical Mycology at Public Health Institute in Ostrava provides the special mycological laboratory services for University Hospital in Ostrava and other hospital units in the Moravian-Silesian region of the Czech Republic, which receives 13,000 routine samples per year for culture, susceptibility testing, antigen- and antibody- detection, and PCR. At the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ostrava supervises the students focusing on medical mycology. He is participating on metallophores and toxins in microbial pathogenesis study and the study of the early fungal biomarkers in combination with new human early inflammatory biomarkers in the diagnosis of invasive fungal disease in critically ill patients, epidemiological study on dermatomycoses in the Czech Republic and utilization of non-thermal plasma in the treatment of onychomycosis.
