Biography

Vit Hubka is a mycologist with special interest in the taxonomy, population genetics, epidemiology and antifungal resistances of medically important fungi such as Aspergillus, dermatophytes and black yeasts. In the last eight years, he was coordinator of the epidemiological study on dermatomycoses in the Czech Republic and focused in detail on the taxonomy of agents of zoonotic skin infections. He collaborated on the description of more than 80 taxa, especially aspergilli.
Vit has been working as assistant professor at the Charles University in Prague and research scientist at the Czech Academy of Sciences. At the Charles University, he is lecturer for subjects Medical Mycology and General Mycology and supervise students focusing on medical mycology. He is also convener of Onygenales Working Group ISHAM and associate editor of Studies in Mycology and Mycological Progress journals.
