Biography

Qian Shen received his bachelor’s degree from China Agricultural University, master’s degree from Mississippi State University, and Ph.D. degree from Ohio State University. He studies the dimorphic fungal pathogen Histoplasma capsulatum, the causative agent of histoplasmosis that infects both immunocompetent and immunocompromised individuals. His research seeks to understand the molecular mechanisms employed by Histoplasma to survive and proliferate within host macrophages which normally control microbial infections. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Biology at Rhodes College in the United States.
